Das ›Nein‹ scheint für den Traum nicht zu existieren

The long-term performance Das ›Nein‹ scheint für den Traum nicht zu existieren (engl.: “›No‹ doesn’t seem to exist in dreams”) proposes an installative re-imagination of the ›Freudian Couch‹, however with reversed roles of therapist and ›patient‹. The artist invites the viewer to lie down and be read to from a scripted text collage, which consists of excerpts of feminist science-fiction literature revolving around question of love, physicality, reproduction and social organization. These utopian fictions – understood as dreams about the now – are questioned regarding their function and implied desires through a somehow forced intimacy within the performative setting.

Installation setting (various materials, using a display structure by Paula Gehrmann), reading score, prepared books | 2017
